Silent Key - Bill Faust, AD4AZ

The Savannah amateur radio community lost a respected member and friend today. I recieved a call early this morning from Steve, K4SDJ regarding the sudden passing of Bill Faust, AD4AZ during the night. I spoke with Bill at the Coastal Amateur Radio Society meeting last night and he seemed well and in good spirits. Bill has been a staple in the Ham community for some time here in Savannah and was a board member of CARS. He really enjoyed CW. My condolences to Bill's family and friends. Here is a picture of Bill "Billy Bob" operating at Field Day last summer. God Bless you Bill.

ARCS Special Event Station at Fort McAllister

We had a great time today out at Fort McAllister running a Special Event Station with the Amateur Radio Club of Savannah. We used the club call sign of W4HBB. Had maybe a dozen HAMs in attendance and made approximately 40 or 50 contacts. Worked mostly 20 Meters with contacts in Jamaica, Mexico, Columbia, Brazil, British Columbia Canada, Alaska, Oregon, California, and all throughout the Midwest. Great job to Andy and Beth Ann and the rest of the club for coordinating a great event! Here's a link to a short video of Dan, KF4MND, operating on 20 meters. The video was taken by Dan's daughter Maggie.
